Visit to flower auction
The flower auction starts early in the morning, so we will meet you at your hotel between 6.30 - 7.30 a.m., depending on the day of the week. The volume of flowers becomes lower at the end of the week, so then we will have to start earlier.
We will drive to Aalsmeer, where the largest flower auction 'Royal Flora Holland' is located.
Behind the Scenes walking Tour
Once at the auction, we will show the process that takes place from the moment the flowers or plants depart from the nursery, which can be in Holland, but might also be in a far away country like Ethiopia or any other country where the climate is wright for growing (cut) flowers.
A few facts:
- Every hour 1000 – 1500 transactions take place and the auctioneer is in charge of this selling process.
- The total turnover of this cooperative of growers (shareholders) is close to
€ 5 billion. - Approx. 5000 growers are (partly) owner of this cooperative. They pay 5 % to the coop. to sell their products.
Visit wholesale center
After the auction, we can visit a wholesale center, where small florists from all over Europe can purchase flowers, house and garden plants and all supplies a florist requires!
