Flower auction Royal Flora Holland
This Orchids tour takes place only during weeks 23 and 24 in June 2025.
We will meet you at your hotel and drive to the world's largest flower auction and trade building with a floor area (20 million sq. ft.).
At the flower auction, we will first visit the plant section to examine the distribution of Orchid plants, among other plants.
We will explain the Dutch auction system.
The buyers no longer need to be present at the auction room; they can buy remotely from their computers anywhere in the world. However, most buyers buy from their company office at the flower auction, which happens Monday through Friday.
We will also visit the cut flower distribution zone, which is located in another part of this massive building!
A visit to a wholesale company is also part of the tour this morning.
Orchids
After the flower auction visit, we will start visiting several Orchid nurseries, mainly with Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, and Vanda growers and breeders.
During week 23 and week 24, the nurseries will organize a so-called
'Open House' during 'Orchid Inspiration Days'.
Modern nurseries
The Orchid Phalaenopsis nurseries in Holland are the front runners in advanced technologies in horticulture in Holland.
They use modern transportation technology to transport the young and adult plants through the greenhouses.
They all use additional technology like LED and high-pressure sodium light to improve the quality and flowering of the Orchids plants.
